Molly McGuire dreams of a girl locked in a closet or trapped in the back of a trunk. As if her anxiety disorder isn’t problematic enough.

Each week, Molly attends Dream Group, a study conducted by her doctor. There, she meets five other teens like her, all dreaming freakish things—like being operated on with eyes wide open, or killing someone.

While working at a grocery store, Molly spots someone that resembles her dream girl. And at home, there’s a story on the news about a missing girl, strikingly familiar to the one in her dreams. Molly can’t help but wonder if she’s real.

Suddenly one teen from the group dies in a car crash. Somehow, the dreams have got to be related, so Molly researches. But when a second one dies by a hit and run, Molly becomes desperate to find answers before she’s the next target.

Excerpt:

I slither through the back door so my mom won’t hear me. Even if she did, I don’t think she would get up. She did text me a few times while I was out with Bret, but I never responded. Like, I didn’t sense the urgency.

Closing the kitchen door behind me, I slink to the front room and sneak upstairs. I hear my mom shuffling around in her bedroom. When I get to my door, she comes from behind and stops me. “Kim, I need to talk to you.”

Not, where have you been? Not, why haven’t you called me? No, it’s just a simple, “I need to talk to you.”

“First of all, I don’t like you coming home this late.”

I roll my eyes at her. “What do you want, Mom?”

She pats me on the shoulder. “I know we haven’t been talking lately. It’s just these long hours at work. I can never get a chance.”

“So, is this what you wanted to talk to me about? I’m tired, Mom.”

“I know it’s late. I wanted to tell you that your father called.”

My heart pinches in my chest. I don’t ever want to see that asshole again. He thinks he can have a relationship with me after what he’s done?

“Yeah, so what? Like I care.”

She takes me by the hand and wipes away a strand of hair from my eyes. “He wants to come to visit you.”
